  2. GIOTTO: Giotto (1266/7- January 8, 1337) was An Italian painter and architect from Florence in the late Middle Ages. Giotto belonged to the early Renaissance; he was the first artist who used foreground, middle ground and background in his compositions. Giotto’s figures were not arranged in one straight line, facing the viewer unlike the previous styles of painting. He was the first to use perspective in his paintings and his figures looked more realistic.
