  1. 11Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, O Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all. I Chronicles 29:11-14

  2. 12Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things. In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all. 13Now, our God, we give you thanks, and praise your glorious name. I Chronicles 29:11-14

  3. I Chronicles 29:11-14 14“But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.”

  4. The Joy of Generosity June 3, 2012

  5. Arthur De Moss ↓ $360 million in 4 months Averaged $3 million a day

  6. His reaction? Cut back on his generosity? “The Lord gave me everything I have,” he explained to a friend. “It all belongs to Him, and if He wants to take it away that’s His business. I don’t lose any sleep. I still have a wonderful family. I will do anything God wants me to do. If He takes away everything He has entrusted to me and calls me to the mission field, I’m ready to go. All He needs to do is open the door.” He not only didn’t cut back, he JOYFULLY increased it!

  8. Bible says that we are to “Give until it feels good.” Acts 20:35 In everything I showed you that by working hard in this manner you must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ II Corinthians 9:7 “…God loves a cheerful giver.”

  9. “I felt uplifted for days. I had been given the inexpressible privilege of sharing.”

  10. What does giving generously do for us?

  11. Sets us free! • Things that hinder generosity: • Selfishness (lack of love) • Fear (afraid to give) • Lack of trust

  12. Gives us a great sense of peace and gratification Matthew 6:28-34 28“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you – you of little faith?

  13. Gives us a great sense of peace and gratification Matthew 6:28-34 31So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

  14. Partners us with God Exodus 25:2 “Tell the sons of Israel to raise a contribution for Me; from every man whose heart moves him you shall raise My contribution.” Exodus 36:6-7 6So Moses issued a command, and a proclamation was circulated throughout the camp, saying, “Let no man or woman any longer perform work for the contributions of the sanctuary.” Thus the people were restrained from bringing any more. 7For the material they had was sufficient and more than enough for all the work, to perform it.

  15. Acts 2:44-47 44And all those who had believed were together and had all things in common; 45and they began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need. 46Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, 47praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved.

  16. Causes us to be blessed by God! Luke 6:38 “Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure – pressed down, shaken together, and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return.” Proverbs 19:17 “He who is kind to the poor lends to the Lord…”

  17. As the Stewards of God by Bill Smith Bill writes, “Little did I realize what my Father bought that day; I doubt he really knew himself. From that day forward, the church meant something to me. I wasn’t quite sure at first what it meant, but I knew it must be something pretty important for my Dad to give $5 a week for it (25% of his income).”

  18. Allows us to walk by faith! II Corinthians 5:7 …for we walk by faith, not by sight.

  19. Shows us who we belong to! II Corinthians 8:1-5 1And now, brothers and sisters, we want you to know about the grace that God has given the Macedonianchurches. 2In the midst of a very severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. 3For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability. Entirely on their own, 4they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the Lord’s people. 5And they exceeded our expectations: They gave themselves first of all to the Lord, and then by the will of God also to us.

  20. Shows us who we belong to!
