  1. Rhinoplasty in India

  2. About Rhinoplasty in India • Rhinoplasty (Nose Surgery) is basically a cosmetic surgery aimed at improving the shape and size of the nose. Rhinoplasty is done to make the nose larger or smaller as well as change the angle of the nose in relation to the upper lip or to correct abnormalities in the nose, such as bumps and indentations. • Rhinoplasty, also called plastic surgery of the nose or a "nose job," is a very popular procedure that can make profound differences not only in the balance of facial features, but also in a person's self-esteem. The main improvements that a rhinoplasty surgeon can make include decreasing or increasing the size of the nose, altering the tip or bridge of the nose and narrowing or changing the shape of the nostrils. • Rhinoplasty is a type of cosmetic surgery that is performed in order to reshape the nose. Although rhinoplasty is most often chosen for cosmetic reasons, Rhinoplasty can also help correct structural defects that may cause breathing problems.

  3. Types of Rhinoplasty • There are many types of rhinoplasty. You may be in need of one or more than one of the following Rhinoplasty techniques: • Augmentation Rhinoplasty • Reduction Rhinoplasty • Revision Rhinoplasty • Nose Tip Plasty • AlarPlasty / Alar Reduction • Hump Nose Reduction • Deviated deformed nose / Corrective Rhinoplasty • Post Cleft Lip Nasal Deformity

  4. What's the difference between an open and closed rhinoplasty? • With rhinoplasty, you will hear the terms like "open" and "closed." It is very important to know the difference between these surgical techniques and ask your provider what is best for you. • In a "closed" rhinoplasty, incisions are made within the nose. In an "open" rhinoplasty, the doctor cuts immediately underneath the nose in the columella, or the thin strip of tissue that separates the nostrils. • A closed rhinoplasty is the more established and common technique. Some doctors say closed rhinoplasty heals faster than open rhinoplasty, while others say open rhinoplasty provide more control during the operation and more consistent results.

  5. How Long the RhinoplastyTakes • Hospital Stay • Rhinoplasty is performed usually on outpatient basis and patient is allowed to go home few hours after the Rhinoplasty is over. If you have undergoing several procedures at once, you may need to stay in the hospital overnight. • Anesthesia • Rhinoplasty may be performed under the general anesthesia. Rhinoplasty can also be done under local anesthesia with light sedation, or, local anesthesia with deep sedation. • Operation • During Rhinoplasty surgery, the skin of the nose is separated from its supporting framework of bone and cartilage, which is then sculpted to the desired shape. The nature of sculpting will depend on your problem and the preferred technique. Finally the skin is re-draped over the new framework.

  6. Risks and Benefits of Rhinoplasty • Risks of Rhinoplasty • Temporary swelling and bruising around the eyes and nose after rhinoplasty can be expected. Other problems that may occur include: • Bleeding. • Injury or holes to your septum (the wall that separates your nostrils). • Skin problems including breakdown of skin tissue (skin necrosis) and irritation from the tape and bandaging. • Infection. Preventive antibiotics may be given afterrhinoplasty surgery to reduce the risk of infection. • Serious nasal blockage caused by swelling inside the nose. • Complications of anesthesia.

  7. How Well RhinoplastyWorks • The results of rhinoplasty surgery may be minor or significant, depending on what kind of correction the patient wants. It is important that the patient and his plastic surgeon agree on the goals of the Rhinoplasty. If the patient's expectations are realistic and plastic surgeon shares them, he or she will probably be able to give you the results you want. • The results of rhinoplasty surgery are permanent, although subsequent injury or other factors can change the nose's appearance. Cosmetic surgery should only be done on a fully developed nose. Complete development has usually occurred by age 15 or 16 in females and by age 17 or 18 in males. If Rhinoplasty is done before to this time, continued development of the nose can change the surgical results and possibly cause complications.
