  14. Summary Prolonged unemployment creates psychological problems that lead to more problems getting a job. Negative feelings of worthlessness over not finding a job lessen chances for finding employment. Either people get so depressed that they stop looking for work or they self-sabotage by appearing hopeless during interviews.
