  2. The New Temple Part II: The Body and the Temple The Tabernacle and Temple are Models for the Body!

  3. The Body is the Temple! 1 Corinthians 3:16  ¶Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

  4. Purpose of the Tabernacle/Temple • Exodus 25:8  And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them. • Romans 8:9  But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

  5. Built according to Gods plan • Exodus 25:9  According to all that I shew thee, after the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all the instruments thereof, even so shall ye make it.   6. The Tabernacle • 1 Corinthians 6:19  What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

  7. The Outer Court • Psalms 101:3  I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me. • Proverbs 17:4  ¶A wicked doer giveth heed to false lips; and a liar giveth ear to a naughty tongue. A Living Sacrifice Romans 12:1  I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. The Brazen Altar: The place of Judgment Romans 6:6  Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, thatthe body of sin might be destroyed,that henceforth we should not serve sin.

  9. Keeping the body clean • Exodus 30:17  ¶And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, • 18  Thou shalt also make a laver of brass, and his foot also of brass, to wash withal: and thou shalt put it between the tabernacle of the congregation and the altar, and thou shalt put water therein.

  10. The Outer Court, The Body (Soma) • Exodus 30:19  For Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands and their feet thereat: • 20  When they go into the tabernacle of the congregation, they shall wash with water, that they die not; or when they come near to the altar to minister, to burn offering made by fire unto the LORD: Ephesians 5:26  That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

  11. The Outer Court Revelation 11:2  But the court (the Outer Court) which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months. Corinthians 15:53  For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54  So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 55  O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

  12. Spirit, Soul and Body • 1 Thessalonians 5:23  ¶And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body (Your Temple/Tabernacle) be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Holy Place: The Soul Exodus 26:7  ¶And thou shalt make curtains of goats' hair to be a covering upon the tabernacle: eleven curtains shalt thou make. 14  And thou shalt make a covering for the tent of rams' skins dyed red, and a covering above of badgers' skins. Leviticus 17:11  For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.

  14. The Four Coverings • Outer Covering • KJV Badger skins • (Porpoise skin) water proof • Rams: Skin dyed Red. • Goats hair • Fine embroidered Linen

  15. A Covering for the Body ! • Exodus 36:19  And he made a covering for the tent of rams' skins dyed red, and a covering of badgers' skins above that. • Genesis 3:21  ¶Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.

  16. A Covering for the Soul • Leviticus 17:11  For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul. • Genesis 22:8  And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together. Genesis 22:13  And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.

  17. The Two Goats: The Body and Soul! • Exodus 26:7  ¶And thou shalt make curtains of goats' hair to be a covering upon the tabernacle: eleven curtains shalt thou make.. • 9  And thou shalt couple five curtains by themselves, and six curtains by themselves, and shalt double the sixth curtain in the forefront of the tabernacle. • 10  And thou shalt make fifty loops on the edge of the one curtain that is outmost in the coupling, and fifty loops in the edge of the curtain which coupleth the second. • 11  And thou shalt make fifty taches of brass, and put the taches into the loops, and couple the tent together, that it may be one. Leviticus 16:8  And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for the LORD, and the other lot for the scapegoat. Leviticus 16:10  But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before the LORD, to make an atonement with him, and to let him go for a scapegoat into the wilderness.

  18. The Fine Linen! • Exodus 26:1 •  ¶Moreover thou shalt make the tabernacle with ten curtains of fine twined linen, and blue, and purple, and scarlet: with cherubims of cunning work shalt thou make them. Revelation 19:8  And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

  19. Inside the Tabernacle Hebrews 9:2  For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the candlestick, and the table, and the shewbread; which is called the sanctuary. • Ephesians 3:16  That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;

  20. The Tabernacle The Body The Soul The Spirit The Holy of Holies The Holy Place The Outer Court 1 Corinthians 3:16  ¶Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

Attributes of the Soul: Heart • The Lampstand : • The Heart • 2 Corinthians 4:6  For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.   22. The Light of the world • Revelation 1:20  ……….. and the seven lampstands which you saw are the seven churches. • Matthew 5:14  Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

  23. Attributes of the Soul: The Mind • The Altar of Incense : • The mind • Romans 10:10  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation(Prayer). • Revelation 8:3  And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altarwhich was before the throne.   24. The Bread of his presence:Feeding the soul • Matthew 4:4  But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every wordthat proceedeth out of the mouth of God. • Nehemiah 9:15  And gavest them bread from heaven for their hunger, and broughtest forth water for them out of the rock for their thirst, John 6:63  It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

  25. The Wall of Separation • Genesis 3:24  So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

  26. “It is Finished” • Matthew 27:50  ¶Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. • 51  And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; John 17:22  And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:

  27. The Glory that shall be revealed… • John 14:16  And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; • 17  Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. • 18  ¶I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
