  3. Essay Question for Exam • You may use your exam, notes, etc. for the essay portion • World War II is one of the major events that we study this year in Social Studies. I want you to choose two other topics/events and explain why all three are important to us today… • Include any important events, people, etc.

  5. Wednesday 3/24 • Communist China Vocab/People Notes • Go over reading strategy • Finish Communist China Discussion Questions • Start Modern China Group Activity

  6. Communist China Vocabulary • Warlord= Local military leader • Long March= Chinese retreat of the people following Mao Z. • Commune= Collective farms • Cultural Revolution= Mao set out to destroy all non communist beliefs

  7. Communist China People • Sun Yat-sen= Wanted a democratic and independent China • Chiang Kai-shek= Attacked Chinese communists • Mao Zedong= Communist leader in China
