Intro to the School of Business • Students start out as Business Foundation Student (BFO) • Once foundation requirements are completed you are allowed to declare a business major • All BFO students are given a deadline that they must meet or else they will be asked to declare a major outside of business

Moving to the Advanced Program • Minimum requirements • Must have completed 54 credit hours • Calculus (MGMT 212 or MATH 200) • ECON 210 and 211 • ACCT 203 and 204 • UNIV 111, 112, 200 • A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 • Your advisor will give you a deadline of when these requirements must be met • If you fail to meet your deadline, you will be asked to chose a major outside of the School of Business • You cannot graduate as BFO student

MGMT 291 Choices in Business • Offered Spring only • An exploration of the various business majors through faculty and department chars • 1 credit; Pass/Fail • Through lectures, guest speakers and individual assignments, students discover the various business majors, curriculum requirements, career options, and VCU resources and services designed to help them with their decision-making process towards achieving academic success in their chosen major.

  14. Course Override Policy • BFO students are restricted from taking most 300 and 400 level business course • If a class is full, we do not do size overrides • Make sure you have completed the pre-requisites for the course

Next Steps • For those interested in changing your major, we will complete the paperwork today • You must still meet with your new business advisor to receive your deadline • We actually do keep track of students’ progress towards their deadline, so it is very important that you receive one • Your advisor will help you understand the requirements you have fulfilled and those that you still need to complete
