Step 2) Manually rename the folder containing QuickBooks company files • Select the Windows Start menu, type “File Explorer” into the search box, and then open File Explorer. • Access the folder containing company files by navigating to the following path: C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Intuit • In the folder, look for the QuickBooks folder and right-click it. • Choose the Rename option and then add the word “old” at the end of the folder’s name. Now, you need to download the QuickBooks installation file from Intuit’s official website and install it. Thereafter, use the license and product information to re-register QuickBooks Desktop.
