  1. Here are some situations that involve choosing between right and wrong. What would you do? What are your reasons for making that decision? You see some kids bullying a year 7 boy. Do you step in to stop it? You borrow your friend’s dvd. You scratch it by mistake. Do you own up and offer to replace it with a new one? you see your friend doing some shoplifting on your day out together. Do you join her? You borrow £20 from someone you don’t really see that often. Do you return it ?

  3. Write down what “morality” is Choose one situation. Explain why you decided to do what you did. What was your main aim? ** Is it “morality” if you do things without thinking/ or just because that is what everyone else is doing? Morality is how you decide what is the right or wrong thing to do.   4. What is MORALITY ? There are different ways of deciding what the right thing to do is. In this unit, we will find out why people make the choices they do.

  5. How do you decide what is right and wrong to do ? Ask your partner the questions and make a note of which letter A-E they use most. Explain in your book which kind of moralilty YOU find yourself using, when making choices. .Eg I usually do things because...… Try and explain why that is important for you to do. It is important for me to do things for this reason because... **DO people tend to stick to one kind of morality, or use several at the same time? • Questions to ask your partner: • Would you give a beggar some of your left-over lunch or lunch money? Why? (A-E) • Because you just want to do the right thing • Because you want to be a good person • Because you want to do what God would want • Because you do whatever has the best result, (consequences) for you or the other person. • Because you want pleasure for yourself, and don’t care too much about others or doing the right thing • Would you help a friend in theirhomework, even though you wanted to go out? Why?(A-E) • Would you hand in a purse with all the £20 notes in it, but only if you get a good reward? Why? (A-E) • Would you own up to breaking your Mum or Dad’s favourite mug, even if they get angry? Why? (A-E) • Would you stay in and finish your project, or go out anyway? Why ? (A-E) • Would you tell the truth, but only if it will not get you into trouble.? Why? (A-E)

  6. Which morality ? 1. Explain what moralities the characters were using to work out what to do. 2. Whose morality do you agree with most? Why? Watch the clip. Which of the men, is using which kind of morality? Hank Bob because it is right to do that because that is what God wants Because they are calculatinghow much benefit it would bring because it is important to be a good person

  8. Does doing good things make you happy? Is that why we should do good things?

  9. Why should I be good? Morality is how you decide what is the right or wrong thing to do. What would you do if you had a ring of invisibility? What would be OK to do? What would not be OK to do? Is it OK to do bad things if you can’t get caught?
