  1. 7th Grade Washington D.C. Class Trip

  2. When? • March 15, 2015 - Leaving from the DMS Campus • Leaving that afternoon on charter buses • March 20, 2015 - return date • We return early morning Friday. • Students who attend the trip will be excused from school the Friday of our return.

  3. What we'll see! • Arlington National Cemetery • Iwo Jima Memorial • Pentagon Memorial • White House • Smithsonian Institute • US Capitol

  4. What we'll see! • Ford's Theater • Holocaust Museum • Lincoln Memorial • Washington Monument • Possible day trip to Gettysburg

  5. What we'll see! • This trip is packed out with so many fun and exciting activities for our kids to see and do. It really is the trip of a lifetime. Please take a look at the detailed sample itinerary in your packet for a day by day breakdown of our trip.

  6. Our trip includes: • Round trip bus transportation • Sightseeing transportation • Course Leader/Tour Guide • Quality Hotel Accommodations • Night Chaperone in Hotel • All meals • All admission fees • Evening Activities

  7. Cost • Student cost: $829 quad occupancy • Adult cost: $959 double occupancy/$829 quad occupancy

  8. Registration • You must register by May 15, 2014 in order to get the Spring Discount. At this point, a $49 deposit is all that is due. You can fill out a registration form and mail it in or go online and register for the trip. We will be happy to help you out with that in the computer lab tonight! Information about this process can be found in your packet. • The trip must be paid in full by January 2015 • Trip insurance (including a full refund program) is an additional $99.

  9. Fundraising • We will be doing several fundraisers for this trip. You can do as much or as little fundraising as you would like. • Our first fundraiser will be candy sales. As soon as you register for the trip and pay your deposit, you may begin to sell candy! We will sell class t-shirts and a spirit shirt this fall as well. We will have hat days and shirt tail days throughout the year to help out a little bit as well. • ANY fundraising ideas are welcome and appreciated!

  10. Financial Aid • Financial Aid is available for families with an adjusted gross income of up to $85,000. There is a flyer in your packet with instructions on how to apply. Please let us know if you need help with this process and we will be happy to help!

  11. A little note about room assignments! • All student rooms are set up to have 4 people in each room. If you want to have less than 4 people in your room, your trip will be more expensive. You will be responsible for finding roommates. We can not make changes to these rooms, so choose wisely! • All parent rooms are set up to have 2 people in each room. If you want to stay alone, your room will be more expensive. If you want to stay 4 to a room, you will pay the student rate! You will be responsible for finding your roommates, so choose wisely!

  12. A little note about bus assignments! • Bus assignments are made a few days before we leave for DC. Mrs. Lockett and Mr. Murner are responsible for giving medications on the trip, so any children that take meds will have to be on the bus with them. Families will be assigned to the same bus. Roommates will be assigned to the same bus, as much as possible. It's pretty random after that. If you have a burning desire to be on the bus with people, make sure they are in your room. Boys and girls are separated on the bus, so don't be concerned about that!

  13. Discipline Procedures • ANY STUDENT WHO RECEIVES OUT OF SCHOOL SUSPENSION WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON THE TRIP. NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN UNLESS TRIP INSURANCE HAS BEEN PURCHASED.

  14. Remind101 • Text the message @tour15 to this number 256-410-8803. This will set you up for text reminders from us!

  15. Ready to Sign Up? • We have the computer lab open tonight if you would like to go ahead and sign up! We would be more than happy to help you get signed up.
