  1. More protection. For less money.Twenty years ago, we pioneered the limited-pleasure-use policy for vintage and modern classic enthusiasts. LelandWest P.O.Box 26420 Fresno, CA - 93729-6420 559.431.8282 USA

  2. Buy Smart When Buying Antique Car Insurance Although most classic car enthusiasts shop long and hard for their vehicles, many fail to shop for the specialty insurance that could provide proper protection and reduce their classic car insurance premiums! So here’s a quick list of shopping essentials: • Put Price After Service. Premiums will most certainly be lower for classic cars. Your comfort with the your broker’s knowledge is more important. And don’t expect discounts for multi-vehicle ownership. Most policies assume that you own a regular car for daily use.

  3. Find a Specialty Insurance Broker. Search online and ask fellow enthusiasts for the name of a classic car insurance or vintage car insurance specialty broker. They should know how to value your vehicle and any use restrictions the coverage imposes. According to NADA’s Collector Insurance Guide http://www.nadaguides.com/Classic-Cars/Tips-and-Articles/Collector-Insurance-Guide, they should also understand the costs and sourcing realities of owning a collector vehicle and be able to recommend you to specialty repair and parts providers. • Get Maximum Risk Coverage. Unless your vehicle is just going to sit in a garage, you should cover all your risks: comprehensive, liability, medical and bodily injury, property damage, and maybe even towing.

  4. Ask for “Agreed Value.” Unlike regular auto policies, based on depreciating vehicle value, yours needs to cover the actual current market value of your collector car. This changes each year, so renegotiate when your policy comes up for renewal. This is even more important for high value cars, such as the vintage vehicles manufacturing during the industry slump between WWI and WWII. http://bentley.umich.edu/research/guides/automotive/index.php • Know What You’re Getting. If you have an underage driver, you’re not going to be able to get specialty coverage. In fact, many companies want drivers to be 25 or even 30 years old. Most policies also place pretty tight limits on how much you can drive your vehicle. If you weren’t aware of specialty insurance for old cars, it’s time to start shopping! Chances are you’ll save money and get the right protection.
