8. How to write your answer: Therefore Nazia Issa is being slightly selective when she says that the Scottish Parliament is effective in representing the people of Scotland since women are not well represented.

10. She also says that the parliament is effective in representing the people of Scotland. Source 1 says that a variety of political parties have seats in the parliament. Source 2 says that the AMS system produces a proportional result. Therefore she is not being selective because the sources show that people are well represented.

Source 2 says that the government will find it difficult to pass the laws they want to- for example in health and education. Therefore she is being selective as the government are not being very effective in carrying out its devolved powers as they may not get laws passed.

How to write your answer: • Finish by stating how selective the statement by the person is: Therefore Nazia Issa is being selective when she says that the Scottish Parliament is effective in representing the people of Scotland since women are not well represented. • By repeating this process 4 times you will receive 8 marks.
