EXPO ‘67. CANADA’S BIRTHDAY PARTY. 1967 was the 100 th anniversary of Confederation and Canada’s 100 th birthday. A huge celebration was planned: a world fair to be located in Montreal, Quebec. Birthday Fireworks. Quebeckers were very proud to be chosen to host Canada’s 100 th birthday.

  2. 1967 was the 100th anniversary of Confederation and Canada’s 100th birthday. • A huge celebration was planned: a world fair to be located in Montreal, Quebec.

  4. Quebeckers were very proud to be chosen to host Canada’s 100th birthday.

  5. There was no room in Montreal to build Expo, so debris from the excavation of Montreal’s new subway was used to build new islands in the St. Lawrence River.

  7. Everyone was very excited about Expo ’67. • This is a 60’s style countdown “clock”.

  8. Queen Elizabeth II visited Expo ’67.

  9. Expo ’67’s theme was “The Future”, so many pavilions were futuristic.

  10. Although this was a Canadian birthday celebration, countries from all over the world participated. • They issued stamps and built pavilions

  11. “Our” Pavilion, of course(named “Katimavik”)

  14. Thailand’s Pavilion

  15. Scandinavia’s Pavilion(Sweden, Norway and Finland)
