  2. VCL-STM-1 (upto 28 E1) Product Overview • Intelligent STM-1 equipment. • Designed to meet low traffic demands from residential or business • customers • An ultra-compact 1U height unit • Can be configured as a Terminal Multiplexer (TMUX) or an Add-Drop • Multiplexer (ADM), with E1, E3 or 10Mbps Ethernet service interfaces • and trunk interfaces at STM-1 rate. • 10/100BaseT Ethernet data interface • Supports end-to-end provisioning and management of voice and data • services across all the segments of the optical network. • Built in non-blocking cross-connect at VC-3 and VC-12 granularity for • efficient traffic grooming. • Provides an Ethernet tributary interface to carry inter-office traffic from • corporate LANs, campus networks or from ISPs. Slide 2

  3. VCL-STM-1 (upto 28 E1) Features • Low priced Terminal Multiplexer and Add-Drop Multiplexer • Seamless integration with the VCL100 family of equipment and • management • Support for E1 / DS1, E3 / DS3 and 10/100BaseT tributaries • 1U chassis- available in rack and wall mounting options • Support for power supply redundancy • Order-wire capability • Linear and ring topologies Multi-level protection schemes-Unprotected, • MSP, SNCP • Advanced networking software with support for open standards such • as- GMPLS and OSPF Slide 3

  4. VCL-STM-1 (upto 28 E1) Advantages • Can be placed in customer premises or access nodes • Allows growth of network with more choices from a common family of • products and with a single type of element management system • Compact size • Provision both voice and data services from the same platform. Efficient • use of transport bandwidth by supporting per-port rate adaptive Ethernet • services • Topology support to cater to customer network scenarios. • Carrier-grade protection schemes enable you to cater to differing • customer protection requirements • Enables automatic topology discovery, shared mesh restoration and • Point-and-Click- Provisioning (PNCP). User friendly GUI based Network • Element Software for local and remote provisioning Slide 4

  5. VCL-STM-1 (upto 28 E1) Benefits • A practical and cost-effective solution catering to low volume traffic • requirements • Easy and cost effective option to grow to a larger network with • minimum increase in overhead costs • Better utilization of available rack space and easy installation in • customer premises • Future proof architecture protecting investment • Flexible and cost-effective network solutions. • Creation of differentiated services to enhance the portfolio of service • offerings • Reduction in operational costs and increase in efficiency through • lower provisioning time and operator intervention Slide 5

  6. VCL-STM-1 (upto 28 E1) Network Element Software (NES) The VCL100LT node is managed through the embedded (Network Element Software). The main capabilities are listed below: • Switch over to redundant power supply in the event of any hardware • fault. • Auto Recovery after Input Power Failure in a redundant system • Node-wise Operations & Maintenance • User programmable severity levels for Alarms • Node-wise Alarming & Remote Login. • Performance monitoring as per the standard specifications (G.826). • In-service monitoring of E1 tributaries. Slide 6

  7. VCL-STM-1 (upto 28 E1) Network Management System (NMS) The STM-1 provides support for centralized network management through Network Management System (NMS). Operations Interfaces • 10/100 Mbps half-duplex LAN interface for NMS data connection to • VCL100LT node (RJ45 connector) • RS232C Craft interface for local Command Line Interface data • connection • 2 wire analog telephone interface for Engineering Order Wire (E1 or • E2 bytes access) with omnibus calling • In-band control channel supported for remote management (F2 & F3 • bytes used from POH Slide 7
