About Nigeria • A population of 140 Million (based on 2006 census) – Africas’ most populous nation • Federal System of Government; 36 +1 States • 7th largest oil exporter in the world; endowed with other natural resources like coal, iron-ore and bitumen • GDP of US$294.8 (as of 1st Apri, 2007) • Oil accounts for 20% of GDP, 95% of foreign exchange and 65% of budgetary revenue • 70% of working population servicing the agricultural sector, 10% servicing the industrial sector and 20% servicing the services sector • 160,000 students graduate from higher institution annually and 20% of that number are science and technical graduates SS-SV Singapore: Nigeria Presentation June 21-27, 2009
