  2. What is it • The five pillars of Islam is the framework of the Muslim life • Faith • Prayer • Donating • Fasting • Pilgrimage

Explanation • Prayer- Salah • Most fundamental rule • Must pray five times a day • They believe that praying cleanse the soul • Also, reminds you of the after life • Fasting- Sawn or Siyam • During the month of Ramadan, must fast • Reframe from foods, drinks, sexual activities etc. • Greater insight into the religion by studying the religion more • Faith- Salah • Must recite • "I testify that there is no god but Allah, and I testify that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.” • "'ahadu 'al-l? il?ha ill?-ll?hu wa 'ašhadu 'anna mu?ammadan ras?lu-ll?h” In Arabic

  4. Explanation • Donating- Zakah • Referred to as Zakah in Arabic • Two types of Zakah that can be paid • One. Is related to the amount of food that is paid for during the holy month • Second. Based on wealth and savings and is usually based around 2.5% of the wealth that has been saved for the year • Pilgrimage- Hajj • Muslims must go to the holy land of Makkah in Saudia Arabia • If you can not afford to go • There are other ways to receive the money to go

  5. Giving the Zakah • Principles that should be followed • 1. The giver must declare to Aliah his intention to give the Zakah • 2. Zakah must be paid on the day that is due • If one fails to pay • People think he is refusing to fulfill God’s wishes • 3. Payments must be in kind • 4. Zakah must be distributed in the community from which it was taken
