Here you should mention something about the peer review: for example: Recently, a Peer review was conducted to assess UN-Habitat’s Approach to Monitoring Target 11, namely to provide a scientific evaluation of the slum definition, method and estimates. The Peer Review welcomed the efforts of UN-HABITAT to develop a Strategy to Monitor Secure Tenure, and recommended to explore further the possibilities of enhancing an expert system approach. 17. Strategy to Monitor Secure Tenure Example of LIFI Methodology Low score - Governments engage in evictions w/out residents involvment or institutions. - Clear rules are not applied - Evictions are carried out by surprise - Appeals are not possible - The media is not informed or there is no free media at all, Medium score - There are a limited number of people or institutions involved. - Communities are informed about the impending evictions - They have the right to express their opinions, but no genuine role in decision making. High score - Eviction decisions made after ample consultations with all relevant parties - No restrictions for media’s free and uncensored reporting. - Evictions are implemented within a reasonable timeframe - Appeal procedures are possible

    18. Strategy to Monitor Secure Tenure As a result of the LIFI: A summary rating from 0 ‘lack of security’ to 1 ‘maximum security’ A diagnosis on the existence of laws and institutions relating to tenure rights, inheritance and evictions Levels of applicability of these laws
