  8. Do All In The Name of The Lord . . . 4And we have such trust through Christ toward God. 5 . . . . . our sufficiency is from God, 6who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. 7But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, . . . . which glory was passing away, 8how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious? 9For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory. . . . 11For if what is passing away was glorious, what remains is much more glorious. 40. Some Objections I Love Jesus Patternism is another facet of legalism, . . . As I review my teaching in many years of my ministry, I am dismayed to realize the emphasis which I put on following the correct pattern which actually took the focus off of Christ, his grace, and our personal relationship with him. Endless discussion of supposed legal correctness of pattern has dimmed our view of him who saved us from such a yoke of legalistic specifications. (FREE AS SONS by Cecil Hook CHAPTER 20 ACCORDING TO THE PATTERN - ) Cecil Hook Don McClain

  41. Holding To The Pattern 2 Timothy 1:13 13Hold fast the patternof sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. The Apostle Paul declared the need to hold fast Don McClain

  42. Holding To The Pattern • Do not preach ANOTHER GOSPEL (Gal. 1:6-10) • Do not teach a DIFFERENT DOCTRINE (1 Tim. 1:3-7; 6:3-5) • Speak as the ORACLES OF GOD (1 Pet. 4:11) Don McClain

  43. Holding To The Pattern • Do all things ACCORDING TO THE PATTERN (2 Tim. 1:13; Heb. 8:5) • Do not GO BEYOND (1 Cor. 4:6; 2 Jn. 9-11) • Do not ADD TO or TAKE FROM (Pr. 30:5-6; Gal. 3:15; Rev. 22:18-19) Don McClain
