  3. Japanese Religions • Two of the main Religions are: • Buddhism • & Shinto

  4. Japanese Subcultures • Many of Japan’s subcultures have to do with fashion styles. Lolita, Gyaru, and Bosozoku were some of the biggest styles over the past few decades. The Punk style has also influenced a lot of Japanese fashion.

  5. Japanese Subcultures • Kigurumin was quiet strange style whose popularity had the speed of a lightning. Girls adhered to this trend wore cheap animal costumes that they used to purchase in the departments where different stuff for parties was sold. They also carried animal shape purses, accessories and wore manba makeup.

Japanese Values/Traditions • Traditional Japanese arts include crafts such as ceramics, textiles, lacquerware, swords and dolls; performances of bunraku, kabuki, noh, dance, and rakugo; and other practices, the tea ceremony, ikebana, martial arts, calligraphy, origami, onsen, Geisha and games.

Japanese Economy • Japan is the world's 2nd Largest automobile manufacturing company and the largest electronics good industry • ranked among the world's most innovative countries • Japan today now focuses primarily on high-tech and precision goods, such as optical equipment, hybrid cars, and robotics.

  8. Short History • During the Jomon Period (13000 BC to 300 BC), the inhabitants of the Japanese islands were gatherers, fishers and hunters. Jomon is the name of the era's pottery • By the beginning of the Kofun Period (300 - 538), a center of power had developed in the fertile Kinai plain, and by about 400 AD the country was united as Yamato Japan with its political center in and around the province of Yamato.

  9. Would I want to live here? I would honestly like to live in Japan for a while or at least visit. One of my favorite producers is from Japan and it would be interesting to see where he got his start. The only reason I am reluctant is because of the earthquakes there. I'm not down with that.   10. What do I like about this culture? • I really liked hearing the old Japanese tales of The Samurai's, the Shoguns, and Ninja. In general, I just like about everything about this culture. The whole history of it is just interesting.

  15. Subculture: Afro Peruvians • Descended from African slaves who were brought to the Western hemisphere with the arrival of the conquistadors towards the end of the slave trade. Today, Afro-Peruvians reside mainly on the central and south coast, with the majority of the population in the provinces of Lima, Callao, Nazca, Chincha, Ica and Cañete. Many Afro-Peruvians live on the northern coast in Lambayeque and Piura. The greatest concentration of Afro-Peruvians and Mestizos of Afrodescent is in the Callao. Peruvian Culture • The Peruvian cuisine is a mixture of 4 continents: America, Europe (Spanish and Italian), Asia (Chinese) and Africa. • Peru is a multicultural country. • Peru has about 44 language branches indigenous people are losing their own language, music and traditions and are try to live in the modern culture.honesty is very valued.

  19. Would I like to live here? • I would say that I would like to live in this culture. Peru, & South America for the matter has a very interesting culture. It’s like a melting pot. If I can’t live there, I would definetly like to visit for a while.

  20. What do I like about this culture? • Just like with Japan, I like a lot about the culture as a whole. One of the thing I liked most about the culture was the food.
