  2. Attention Full Members • We were unable to fill two positions in our executive cabinet last spring. • This is a second chance to be part of the executive board and practice your leadership skills • This is a great experience for any one to really get involved and grow.

  3. Positions Available • Communications Officer • Co-Communications Officer • They will need to form a committee under them to help with tabling, chalking, and posting flyers • Tabling and Chalking will be only required on weeks before a meeting ( twice a month) • E-mail Advisors at each department when our meetings will be held • Help with publicizing any events of SAPP • Historian

  4. Positions Available cont. • Historian • Documenting all events of SAPP • Keeping the scrapbook/photo album updated • Posting new pictures onto the Facebook group • Budget supplies that will be needed

Elections • Elections for these new positions will be held on September 22. • You will need to present a short speech about why you would be good for the position and what you plan to contribute to it. • The speech can be no longer than 2 minutes. • If you are interested please contact Jeremy Bary at jrb06v@fsu.edu or tell us after the meeting.

  6. What is SAPP? • The purpose of the Student Association of Pre-Health Professionals (SAPP) is to offer a support system for students wanting to enter a health field. • We provide networking opportunities for all members by educating them of different health fields. • We offer members opportunities to volunteer in health related fields around the community and get to know fellow members through organized socials.

  7. What is SAPP? • During the fall and spring semesters we have bi-weekly meetings with speakers from various health fields and admissions board personnel. • Also, we offer a scholarship to members at the end of every spring semester. Our group caters to the members’ needs and allows each individual a voice in the organization’s actions.

  8. How do I become a member? • Membership is open to all students enrolled at Florida State University who are interested in pursuing a career in any health profession. • The membership is divided into two classes: associate and full member. • These two types are determined by a preset point system

  9. SAPP POINTS • Associate Members: • Fill out an application • Pay yearly due of $20.00 • In Order to become a full member of SAPP one must: • Fill out an application • Pay yearly due of $20.00 • Accumulate 30 points for the fall and 30 points during the Spring semester.

Points Continued.. • These Points can be accumulated in several ways: • Attending SAPP Meetings ----- 3 point each • Attending SAPP Volunteering functions ----- 1 point per hour • SAPP will only count up to 20 hours of volunteering directly towards membership • 15 points of the 20 must be for SAPP held events • Tabling, chalking, rainbow rehab, shadowing, donations etc. • Attending Sapp socials ---------- 1-4 points • Helping with Fundraising Events ------1-4 points

What Benefits do I get as a Full Member? • As a full member you will be eligible to receive a Club Shirt for Free • You will be eligible to apply for our yearly scholarship • There will be special events that will be only for full members • Ex) shadowing, CPR classes • Be able to RUN FOR OFFICE • More to be announced throughout the year.

  12. How do I stay a Full Member? • To keep your benefits as a full member you will have a reduced set of points • You will have a minimum of 20 points a semester • 10 of the points will count toward SAPP provided volunteering events • 10 points will be from meetings, socials, etc.

Scholarship • A scholarship is given out every Spring • An essay that is 4600 words • The topic is given out in October. • Due in March of 2009 • The Scholarship will be given to the top two essays • Amount will be announced later in the year • Last year we gave out $500.00 to the 1st place winner and $100.00 to 2nd place

Volunteering • There is a piece of paper that was handed out to you when you came in. • Please indicate what type of volunteering you would be interested in participating in this year. • Please put your full name on the sheet • This will allow us to contact you individually with any opportunities that come up as well

Volunteering • Rainbow Rehab • Saturday, September 13 • 9am to 1pm • House is on 303 Putnam drive • Cleaning up has begun on the house  • Sign- up in the back if you would be interested in volunteering for Rainbow Rehab at anytime over the semester. • Or e-mail Melanie Gonzalez @ mag05h@fsu.edu
