  3. The challenges With the growing awareness one environment education, there is little that has been done in my community to address the issue of incorporating children in he pre- primary school popularly known as nursery school in my area lari district in Kenya. These children are left behind since there are no literatures as well as resources that are available for the children to understand on the issues of environment awareness whereas they are the generation that might suffer more from the negative adverse effect of the environment degradation if they continue to remain ignorant of the environment and conservation

  4. Objective • Have each and every kindergarten in my area equipped with resources that will help the kids understand in simpler terms the issue of environment awareness. The resources will include having

  5. - provide with picture books in the library that are aimed at helping the child become aware of his/ her surrounding. • -Having posters in the kindergarten that are sensitizing the children on environment issues.

  6. Having the children recite poems and dances that are geared towards environment awareness. • - having beautification program where the child will participate in making their school environment beautiful as this will instill a hands on attitude towards making the surrounding a favorable place to live at. This may include planting flowers in school as well as daycare centers

  7. -Introduction of tree gardens in the kindergarten to help the child learn more on trees and their importance in our environment. • - inculcate the spirit of waste management this by making children realizing that waste should not be littered

  8. Help children link the importance of taking care of the environment as well staying healthy. • Have parents/ guardian support the child in planting as well as nurturing trees at school an activity that can be replicated at home as well.

  9. The earth charter principle guiding me in this challenge • Principle 14 that says that; integrating into formal education and life long learning the knowledge values and skills needed for a sustainable way of life.

  10. Goals. • The project will be implemented within one year [2012]. With the aim of nurturing conservation skills in children of 0-6 years, who have been left behind on matters of taking care of the environment.
