SOL L.S. 10 • The student will investigate and understand how organisms adapt to biotic and abiotic factors in an ecosystem. • Differences between ecosystems and biomes • Characteristics of land, marine, and freshwater ecosystems • Adaptations that enable organisms to survive within a specific ecosystem

  3. Essential Questions • Organisms adapt to biotic and abiotic factors in an ecosystem. How would a specific change in the biome affect the ecosystem? • Identify an environmental change that could affect your biome. • Predict the changes that would occur based on your research.

  4. Project • Design a project that illustrates the before and after changes in your biome. • Cite facts to support your predictions. • Include a bibliography.

  5. Library Media Strategies • The teacher and librarian will collaboratively create a rubric. • The librarian will create a pathfinder and/or graphic organizer for students to collect information • The librarian will instruct students on the use of online databases • The librarian will instruct students on proper source citation, bibliography, and guidelines against plagiarism.

  6. Information Retrieval Skills • Students will use print and non-print resources. • Students will extract information from a variety of sources and take notes. • Students will synthesize and organize information. • Students will create a bibliography of resources.
