  1. Why Should A Man Pray? James 2:18 Luke 18:1-8 Praise, Confession, Petition and Intercession

  2. Intercession Why did the apostles require a great amount of time in prayer? Acts 6:1-4 IF a faithful man regularly goes to God in prayer, does he then need others to pray for him? Do we need God’s help? Power in the gifts bestowed by God upon an apostle – 2 Corinthians 12:12 2 Corinthians 1:8-11 – credited prayers of others for his deliverance

  3. Intercession Philippians 1:19 – Paul anticipated future prayers of others to deliver him at a later time Colossians 4:2-4 – Paul needed the prayers of other Christians to open a door for him to teach others 1 Thessalonians 5:25 – Here is a broad appeal 2 Thessalonians 3:1,2 – both deliverance & spread of the word are brought together Hebrews13:18,19 – prayer would make a reunion more likely

  4. It Makes Sense To Ask For God’s Help In The Overwhelming & Uncertain Work Before Us Matthew 7:7,8 Because some have lost their faith, they do not pray IF the results are not instantaneous, we give up – James 4:2 Do you think of others in your prayers?

  5. Intercession In The Life Of Paul • Consider the churches Paul prayed for: • Romans 1:9 – “without ceasing” • 1 Corinthians 1:4 – “always.” • Philippians 1:3,4 – “always in every prayer” • Colossians 1:3,9 – “did not cease to pray for you” • 1 Thessalonians 1:2 – “always” • Not “generic” – he made mention of them

  6. Intercession In The Life Of Paul • Consider the individuals Paul prayed for: • 2 Timothy 1:3- “without ceasing” • Philemon 4 – “mention of you always” • What our intercession can do • Fruit is not easily seen • Our prayer may have made the difference, but we can’t be sure in this life • God wants us to do this on the basis of His word alone – Luke 5:5

  7. What Are The Greatest Needs In The Lord’s Church Today? Greater Evangelism – Matthew 9:37,38; Philemon 5,6 Greater Knowledge – Colossians 1:9-11 More Love Fore One Another – Philippians 1:9 A Wise Leadership That Has Come From Strong, Faithful Christians- Philippians 1:10 Strong Homes – Joshua 24:15

  8. Are We Seeing Our Lives As Christians As We Should? When you combine a belief in a living God with an unselfish service to others you find men and women who intercede on behalf of others We may never know the great work the Lord has accomplished through us until we see Him – Ephesians 3:20,21

  9. How Do You Pray? Luke 11:1 “lord, teach us to pray…”
