  31. Discussion Exercise • After 21 years of service, Daniel has been laid off from his job as a financial analyst. Daniel is receiving unemployment benefits now, but does not have a plan for when they run out. Daniel has approached you in the Resource Area to find out what resources are available to help him. • Which key resources would you recommend to Daniel? What other resources would you use?

  32. Discussion Exercise • Cassandra has been on MFIP assistant for close to 5 years and has little job skills or education, and needs to find a job before her assistance runs out. She doesn’t know where to start her search. She has approached you in the Resource Area to find out what resources are available to help her. • Which key resources would you recommend to Cassandra? What other resources would you use?

Recap • The Career Planning Process model and Career Matrix can be used as a framework and tools from which customers can work from. • Internet web sites, information and resources are key components in career planning and job searching strategies, which need to be assembled and organized. • Other sites offering assessments, efolios and offender information are resources tools. • Creating a virtual presence, such as an email address, e-profiles and participating in social networking sites, will increase personal exposure.
