  1. 10/7 Bell Ringer Step 1: Grab supplies from the front of the room Step 2: GET OUT YOUR HOMEWORK Step 3: Answer the following questions: What are the coordinates of (4, 7) if reflected over the x-axis? What are the coordinates of (-4, 2) if reflected over the y-axis? What are the coordinates of (-5, -6) if reflected over the line y = x? Homework: Translations in Coordinate Plane Independent Practice

  2. 10/7 News and Notes • Homework checked? • Grades go in today for progress reports.

  3. 10/7 Agenda • I CAN translate an object within the coordinate plane. • Bell Ringer • Intro to New Material – 2 examples • Guided Practice • Independent Practice

  4. New Material – Example 1 • Step 1: Plot points A(3, 9) B(1, 2) and C(6, 4) and create the triangle. • Step 2: Translate the triangle 3 units to the right and 4 units down. • Step 3: What are the points of your image? • A’ = (6,5) • B’ = (4, -2) • C’ = (9, 0)

  5. New Material – Example 2 • Translate each point in DEFG (x – 2, y + 1). D (1, 1) E(-4, 5) F(2, -4) G(-3, -6) • Image: D’ (-1, 2) E’(-6, 6) F’(0, -3) G’(-5, -5)

  6. Guided Practice • Between you and your elbow partner you need a whiteboard, tissue and a whiteboard marker. • Step 1: Draw a coordinate plane on your whiteboard. • Process: • Mr. Chrischilles will place a point on the board • You will plot that point while he writes the translation on the board. • Then he will reveal the translation and you will have to translate your pre-image. • **NOTE: If this goes smoothly, it could develop into a golden ticket race.

  7. Independent Practice • You now have the rest of class to work on the independent practice.

  8. ACT Question of the Day • Point A (-5, 8) is translated 6 units right and 2 units up. What are its image coordinates? • (-11, 10) • (1, 6) • (1, 10) • (-11, 6) Homework: Translations in Coordinate Plane Independent Practice
