About Me • Bachelor’s of Education from Kutztown University • Master’s of Instructional Technology from Walden University • Taught 6th grade for five years • Taught 2nd grade for three years • Taught 5th grade for four years • I live near Elverson. I enjoy drumming, reading, running & competing in 5Ks, traveling, hiking, playing with my dog and teaching!

  5. 3-ring Binder Should include… • Homework folder • Grading Log (pink paper in plastic sleeve) • Assignment book • Pencils, erasers • Notes/documents to and from school

LPES Falcon 4Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe, BePositive • School-wide positive behavior system • Entire community works together to encourage all children in all areas of the school follow our Falcon 4. • Focus on positive behaviors in the classrooms, hallways, playground, cafeteria, and bathrooms, and expect every student to work their hardest in following these expectations to make LPES a welcoming and safe school for all.

  7. Classroom Behavior Plan Students will showcase Falcon Four Expectations throughout the day. Student and teacher will work together to ensure positive behaviors are showcased. For negative behaviors, we will work together to remedy the situation and turn it into a positive learning experience.

Every night • -20 minutes or more of reading • -Spelling practice • -Math “leveled” assignment HOMEWORK POSTED DAILY ON WEBSITE: https://www.pgsd.org/Domain/735 All students will write down homework assignments in their assignment book each day. This is very important, as some students will have different homework than others. If students have incomplete assignments, they will complete it at recess.

Mathematics Throughout the Math in Focus series, concepts are taught moving through a sequence of concrete to pictorial to abstract. • Concrete: use manipulatives, tables, charts, and other tangible objects to learn a new math skill. • Pictorial: draw pictures and create representations to enhance the learning process. • Abstract: use mathematical symbols, equations, and number sentences to synthesize learning.

Science • Learning through experiments and sense-making discussions • Science notebooks are used as a tool to assess learning. • Participation and quality behavior is essential to successful experiments and sense-making discussions. • Field trip permission slips will be sent home soon for the Perkiomen Creek Watershed Conservancy on 10/9/19 (Wednesday). $20.

  13. Grading Log/Assessments • The Pink Grading Log should be signed and returned after every assessment. There is a comment section to encourage parents to share their thoughts and concerns regarding their child’s progress for the week. • Assessments and other student work will be placed in portfolios for conferences. Please contact me with any concerns regarding your child’s progress.
