  2. THE DEFINITION OF GRACE • GOOD-WILL, LOVINGKINDNESS, FAVOR... • Of the kindness of a master towards his inferiors or servants • And especially of God towards men It is this particular definition of grace that prompts us to think of it most often as “__________________" UNMERITED FAVOR

  3. EPHESIANS 2:4-5 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.

  4. THE DEFINITION OF GRACE • A SPIRITUAL STATE OR CONDITION IN WHICH ONE __________ GOD'S FAVOR... • When one accepts God's grace, they are in a “__________________" ENJOYS STATE OF GRACE

  5. ROMANS 5:1-2 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand.

  6. 1 PETER 5:12 With the help of Silas, whom I regard as a faithful brother, I have written to you briefly, encouraging you and testifying that this is the true grace of God. Stand fast in it.

  7. THE DEFINITION OF GRACE EXPRESSION • AN _______________OF GRATITUDE FOR FAVOR BESTOWED... 1 TIMOTHY 2:12 I thank Christ Jesus our Lord

  8. GRACE AND THE CHRISTIAN • WE ARE SAVED BY GRACE! • Salvation is _________ a matter of Grace! EPHESIANS 2:5-8 He made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. 6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God. ALWAYS

  9. GRACE AND THE CHRISTIAN • WE ARE SAVED BY GRACE! • Salvation is _________ a matter of Grace! • In no way can we ever say that we earn or merit salvation We are still “_____________________" ALWAYS UNWORTHY SERVANTS

  10. GRACE AND THE CHRISTIAN • GOD'S GRACE REQUIRES HOLY LIVING! • The grace of God ___________________ • _____ ungodliness and worldly lusts • _____ soberly, righteously and godly • _____ for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of Jesus TEACHES US DENY LIVE LOOK

  11. Titus 2:11-13 Titus 2:11-13 – For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. 12 It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ

  12. TITUS 2:14 ..Who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.

  13. GRACE AND THE CHRISTIAN • HOLY LIVING REQUIRES GOD'S GRACE! • To live "soberly, righteously and godly" __________ the grace of God • We __________ do it on our own, but with God's help we can! REQUIRES CANNOT

  14. GRACE AND THE CHRISTIAN • WE MUST GROW IN GRACE • WE CAN RECEIVE GOD'S GRACE IN _____! VAIN

  15. 2 CORINTHIANS 6:1 As God’s fellow workers we urge you not to receive God’s grace in vain. 2 For he says, “In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.”

  16. GRACE AND THE CHRISTIAN • WE MUST GROW IN GRACE • WE CAN RECEIVE GOD'S GRACE IN _____! • TRYING TO ___________ YOURSELF BY ANOTHER WAY GALATIANS 5:4 You who are trying to be justified by law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace. VAIN JUSTIFY

  17. GRACE AND THE CHRISTIAN • WE MUST GROW IN GRACE • WE CAN RECEIVE GOD'S GRACE IN _____! • JUSTIFY ANOTHER WAY… • ___________THE SPIRIT OF GRACE VAIN INSULTING

  18. HEBREWS 10:26-29 If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, 27 but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. 28 Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?

  19. A THOUGHT GOD’S GRACE DOES NOT GIVE ME AN EXCUSE TO SIN

  20. ROMANS 6:1 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2 By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?

  21. ENCOURAGMENT "look(ing) diligently lest anyone fall short of the grace of God." - He 12:15 "let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear." - He 12:28 "For it is good that the heart be established by grace..." - He 13:9 "Grace be with you all. Amen" - He 13:25
