  1. “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you....” Matthew 28:19-20

  2. “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” Matthew 9:35-38

  3. Lord, Send Out Laborers • At the end of your days you will not measure your lifeby whether you have accumulated a lot of money or by how high you have climbed up the corporate ladder, but by whether you have faithfully used what God has entrusted to you to further His kingdom.

  4. Lord, Send Out Laborers • Whether directly through your verbal teaching, or indirectly through your example, your giving, your good works, or your service, there will be people in heaven because you did not live for yourself, but for Jesus Christ and His kingdom.

Luke 5:4-6 (NKJV) (4) When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” (5) But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” (6) And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking. 

  6. Faith’s Obstacles • MEMORY OF RECENT FAILURE:Even after trying their best, they had failed to catch anything. • PHYSICAL WEARINESS:They had gone without sleep, having toiled all night long. • UNLIKELIHOOD OF SUCCESS: If they hadn’t caught any during the night (the ideal time), how would they catch any in the day? • DIFFICULTY OF THE DEMAND: They must launch out into the DEEP WATER!

  7. Faith’s Triumph • Even though we have already tried and failed… • Even though the ideal time for success is well-past… • Even though we are extremely tired and the difficulty is great… • Because it is you who have said so, Lord, we will ignore all of our human reasonings and our physical and emotional desires, put our trust in you, and obey you.

  8. Results of Obedience • Blessings beyond what we are able to imagine. Eph. 3:20

  11. Luke 5:7-9 (NKJV) (7) So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. (8) When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!” (9) For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish which they had taken;

  12. Results of Obedience • Blessings beyond what we are able to imagine. Eph. 3:20 • Humility and reverence for the providence and power of God. • A subsequent call to even greater responsibility and sacrifice.

  13. Luke 5:10-11 (NKJV) (10) and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men.” (11) So when they had brought their boats to land, they forsook all and followed Him.

  14. Becoming Fishers of Men • PRAY (5:4)(ask for direction) • PERSEVERE (5:5) • PARTNER UP (5:6-7) • PRAISE (5:8-10) • PRIORITIZE (5:11)
