  3. Coming to Mission The city of Mission is 1 hour east of Vancouver, in the beautiful Fraser Valley, and is serviced by major airlines, via the Vancouver International Airport. ALL STUDENTS ARE MET AT THE AIRPORT.

  12. Programs and Study Options • Courses that lead to a BC Secondary Graduation Diploma; a three year program. The ideal entry is Grade 9 depending upon a student’s level of English competence. • A full year immersion course to perfect the English language before enrolling in university or college.

Student Eligibility • Mission Public Schools, will accept students who give evidence that they have the academic and social potential to be successful in our programs. • Students must be between the ages of 10 and 18 to live with a Host Family. • Students under the age of 10 must be accompanied by a parent or close relative.

  16. Facilities • The district has thirteen elementary and three secondary schools, including French Immersion programs in two elementary schools and one secondary school. There is also Riverside Trades, Training and Career Centre which provides trades training, careers and apprenticeship programs • Students are accommodated in well equipped, modern buildings that include special facilities for sports, science labs, applied arts, fine and performing arts.

  18. ESL Support and Programs • All students are placed in a program appropriate for their age, academic goals, and competency in English language. • Students will receive ESL services as long as it is determined that such support is needed.

Host Family Program • Students live with carefully selected and monitored Host Families. • Students benefit from daily exposure to English in a friendly, safe environment. • Everyday English conversation gives students practice and confidence. • A caring Host Family eases the challenging experience of moving to a foreign country.

  25. Host Family Program • All Host Families participate in yearly orientation programs. • The Host Family Program is managed by district staff including a Host Family Coordinator and the International Program Manager.

Fees & Expenses: SEPTEMBER 2013-2014 • Application fee (non-refundable) - $250 • Tuition fee - $11,500 • Medical - $800 • Administration Homestay Placement Fee - $250 • Custodial legal Fee - $100 • Airport Transfer fee - $150 • Activity Fee – $250 • Homestay Fee - $8,000 (10 month) • Fees can be paid by money order, certified cheque or bank transfer
