  1. INFRARED V E R S U S STEAM COMPARING THE 2 TYPES OF SAUNAS Known as dry saunas, Infrared Saunas use infrared emitters to generate heat. Steam saunas use hot rocks or stoves to build heat and steam in the sauna. Infrared penetrates deep inside your skin which results in enhanced detoxification. Steam saunas generate far more heat and detoxify skin by opening up pores. Infrared saunas don't have any humidity and the relatively lower temperatures mean that long sessions (40 minutes) are comfortable. Steam Sauna sessions are often limited to 15-20 minutes due to the intense heat and humidity inside the sauna. Traditional steam saunas are more expensive overall and require regular cleaning and maintenance for best experience. Infrared saunas are more energy-efficient and have cheaper operational and up- front costs.
