  1. Conclusion of parents attitudes of disparity • Earlier we made an enquiry form to parents and the results were very good. We wanted to ask them some of the questions again. This time we did not ask all the parents but we choose three classes which have had parental school with a class teacher six times this school year. This parental school we started last autumn. • The questions were about parents and children`s attitudes towards disparity and this time also about parental school

  2. 1.grade mainstream class and 1.grade two special classes • Response rate was 50 % in one special class and 75 % in one special class and one main stream class. • Three classes have had parental school meetings six times this school year. Part of meetings have been functional and the others conversational • The family adviser at school has taken part of each class meetings at least once.

  3. Atmosphere in Luolavuori school is: • supportive • co-operation in all levels • responsible, caring (open doors for parents, clubs, school’s festivals are magnificent) • It’s always nice to visit in Luolavuori School • staff and students smile and greet in corridor • It feels almost impossible that there is such a sense of community at so big school as Luolavuori is.

  4. How do you experience children`s disparity: as an asset, challenge or something else? • 100 % of the parents experience disparity as an asset • In my opinion the disparity is richness, children will grow up with that • this is the best kind of integration • we experience it as a resource and learning tolerance • it is a very good fact because the real world is full of different kind of people

  5. How does your child find out differences of students? • there are friendships over the class borders • disparity was a new experience in the fall, but no more • the students are very interested in different kind of learners, but their attitude is tolerant

  6. What kind of benefits have you found from Luolavuori parental school? • peer support • deal with everyday joys and challenges • get to know other families • in future some of parents could be responsible of meetings

  7. Conclusion: • All the parents experienced the atmosphere of the school great and the difference of students as a resource. • All the parents experience disparity as an asset • Parents are very satisfied with the general atmosphere at the school- child is happy and feels secure. • Satisfaction is on solid base. • The teachers and parents consider meetings important.
