  2. Local Context • Weaver Vale formed 2002 • In the heart of Cheshire • One Ward in bottom 10 % deprivation • Nearly 1000 households affected by Welfare Reform rooms subsidy • Trust is launching its new Corporate Plan to 2020

  3. 9 Strategies • Customers into Work • The aim is to increase the number of our customers in paid employment • Our targets • By 2014 help 60 people to become work ready • By 2014 place 40 people into work • By 2020 to give 500 customers an opportunity to work for the Trust or have offered placements or training opportunities at WVHT or elsewhere • By 2020 placed 300 people who live in our homes into work

Our ProgressWVHT has experience of • Future Jobs Fund • Work Programme • Work Placements • Working with the “Airport Group” to promote apprenticeships • Recognised locally with awards • Work experience with local schools • Enterprise competition “Dragon’s Den Style” with local schools • Supporting local business with employing apprentices

  5. Our Umbrella Services • Floating Support • Money Advice • Passport to Resettlement • Targeted Recruitment • Work Experience

  6. Future Projects • Investigate/setting up a social enterprise • Forming a small team within the Trust • Launching “Employment Horizons“ as the Trusts vehicle to deliver & partner the strategic aims

Our Future Approach • Engaging with • Our own contractors • Creating 1 job for every £1m invested • Work with • DWP /Job centre plus • CW&C (Local Council & Altogether Better Programme) • Local Contractors & Businesses • Regeneration firms working in Northwich • 50 places created 2012/13 • 14% of work force

Our Future Approach continued • Hold our own Jobs Fair • Recognising that 40 % of our own force could retire by 2020 • Provide in-house support & mentoring for all persons placed • Provide work experience for JCP nominated placements • Provide dovetail work experience with smaller firms who are limited in providing a full apprenticeship
