ISTC Project #2267 & JINR Project Project on Creation of Subcritical Assembly Driven by Proton Accelerator in Dubna Leading Institution: Joint Institute for Nuclear Research Financing Parties: EC (Sweden, Germany France, Spain), JINR, Russia Timing: Project started on November 2003 PhysicalStartup at 2006 – 2007 Collaboration: Russia (Institutes + ISTC projects ), France, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Czech Republic, Romania, Bulgaria, Poland, Belorussia,… (open for new participants) PAC on Nuclear Physics 20-th Session

  2. SAD General Layout Concrete shielding not shown 1m Plug SAD facility beam injection general layout P+ Core Lenses Target PAC on Nuclear Physics 20-th Session

  3. SAD perspective scientific program • Studying the problems of target and core integration, including influence of the target size and position on main SAD characteristics • Measurements of absolute value of the SAD power gain and reactivity, computer codes validation, benchmarking • Deep subcriticality measurements and monitoring • Measurements of the kinetic properties of the blanket • Measurement of shielding efficiency (especially in a direction of a primary proton beam) • Studying spatial and energy distributions of neutron field in target and fuel blanket • Measurements oftransmutation rates for MA and LLFPin different neutron spectra, computer codes validation • Studying the spallation products yields in target using He jet techniques PAC on Nuclear Physics 20-th Session

  4. Longtime Perspectives • New perspectives for the DLNP Phasotron • JINR member countries stronger consolidation • JINR integration into EU and world programs on Partitioning & Transmutation • Educational aspect of the project PAC on Nuclear Physics 20-th Session
