Objectives: Participants will: • Learn about services offered through Families Together • Hear about updates regarding Kansas Infant Toddler Services • Be introduced to the Electronic Referral System for Part BReferrals • Get a report about legislative updates • Learn about a new resource being developed for New Coordinators in Kansas

  6. Outreach to the NICUs and PICUs in Wichita New grant funding to Families Together from the Lattner Family Foundation

  7. Families Together Services Since 1982 Regional Offices PTI, F2F, KS-IT, PSN, etc. all serve IT populations Staff are parents Work with IT to train Child Advocates Parent to Parent

  8. History of work with NICUs Family to Family Staff contacts with ViaChristi Request from Wesley Hospital Weekly consultations available upon request CareING notebooks (Care Individual Needs Guide)

  9. Content of Visits Info posted at Entrances to PICU/NICU Nurses take requests from Families who would like to visit with a Families Together staff member. Parent – to – Parent matches offered Notebooks Referrals to services

  10. Community Families from towns in rural communities Community connections to support and services Confidential help from a family member of a child with special health care needs

  11. New Grant LattnerFamily Foundation – one year support Families Together will hire a bi-lingual staff member for .5 FTE More time to spend at hospitals More time to help families by phone or in person after discharge Money for printing needed materials

  14. SAR Changes • Updated to reflect changes in Regulations • Read through these changes before writing the SAR • Don’t just repeat the same information / cut and paste each reporting period. • Use new form – Old forms will NOT be accepted

  15. Electronic Referral System for LEA/SEA • New Requirement to make referral to SEA • MUST enter data within 2 weeks for the action occurring • This system will be used for measuring compliance

  16. Remember! The Desktop system for the ITS database will go away at the end of the day on December 31, 2012!

  17. OWS – Not OWLS Exiting a Child from the OWS System • When you lose contact with a child/family • Summer birthdays.

  20. Good to Know! In the past 12 months, 8,483 children, birth through age two, received developmental screening and services through Part C Infant Toddler Services. This is an 11.4% increase over the previous 12 months.

  22. Kansas ITS Fall 2012 Compliance Actions Actions were taken generally on Federal Compliance Indicators 1, 7, 8 (parts b and c), and 14. Finding and Release letters 12 (11 sent in 2011) Corrective Action Plan letters 3 (9 sent in 2011) Mixed Letters 6 (15 sent in 2011) (Finding and Release on one Indicator, Corrective Action Plan on another) Congratulatory letter (no findings) 16 (2 sent in 2011)

Technology Stipend • $55,000 to put toward Stipends • Decision Making Process • Completeness /Quality • Removed items that were consumables (wifi, ink, flash drives etc…) • Looked at the a % of the number of children served by individual programs compared to those who asked for funding. • Funded a minimum of $2,500 or what was asked for, whichever was less.
