National Innovation Fund Republic of Kazakhstan Perspective areas for cooperation: Wind power generation industry • Kazakhstan’s wind energy potential capacity - 1.8bln. kW-hr • Pilot project on construction of the first wind power station in the Jungar Gate in the South-East of Kazakhstan • Max. capacity - 5.5mWt. • Total cost of the pilot project - $5.5 mln. • UNDP - $1.0 mln. • NIF - $2.7mln. • US/EUN investors - $1.8 mil • Second stage - $ 170.0mln. • The winner gets a contract for guaranteed purchase of electric power for a max. price of 3.5 cents/KW/hr.

National Innovation Fund Republic of Kazakhstan Perspective areas for cooperation: The Methane Project (Karaganda, Central Kazakhstan) Operator: Schlumberger STAGES: 1 stage (pilot phase)– drilling of 6 pilot wells Total Cost: $13-20 mln, duration: 12-18 months Fund: 35% ($7 mln) Petrol Total Establishment - 20% ($4 mln); US/EUN investors - 45% ($9 mln). 2 stage (commercial phase) – drilling and exploration of 110 commercial wells Total Cost: $180-220 mln, duration: 25 years

National Innovation Fund Republic of Kazakhstan Perspective areas for cooperation: Pharmaceutical Industry • Kazakhstan pharmaceutical market - $518 mln • Share of domestic pharmaceutical industry – 9% • Production of antibiotics in Stepnogorsk, Central Kazakhstan. • Total project cost - € 45-50 mln. • Start of industrial production - 2008 year • Other perspective projects includes: • - Production of anti tuberculosis medications – $20 mln; • - Production of bio-degradable packaging – up to $40 mln; • - Production of insulin – up to $150 mln.
