  1. December 1941 • 12.07.41-Japanese bomb Pearl Harbor. • 12.08.41-U.S. and Britain declare war on Japan. • 12.10.41 to 12.11.41- Japanese seize Guam, the Philippines, and Burma. • 12.18.41-Japanese invade Hong Kong.

  2. January 1942 • 01.07.42-Japanese attack Bataan. • 01.11.42-Japanese invade Dutch East Indies. • 01.16.42-Japanese begin an advance in Burma.

  3. February 1942 • 02.02.42-Japanese invade Java in the Dutch East Indies. • 02.08.42 to 02.09.42- Japanese invade Singapore. • 02.15.42-British surrender at Singapore. Singapore

  4. March 1942 • 03.04.42- Two Japanese flying boats bomb Pearl Harbor. • 03.18.42- War Relocation Authority established in the U.S. (eventually rounds up 120,000 Japanese-Americans.

  5. April 1942 • 04.03.42- Japanese attack troops at Bataan. • 04.06.42- First U.S. troops arrive in Australia. • 04.10.42- Bataan Death March (over 5,000 American deaths).

  6. May 1942 • 05.01.42- Japanese occupy Mandalay. • 05.07.42 to 05.08.42- Battle of the Coral Sea. U.S. naval victory fought only with aircrafts.

  7. June 1942 • 06.07.42- Japanese invade the Aleutian Islands. The Aleutian Islands are located off the coast of Alaska. Aleutian Islands

  8. August 1942 • 08.24.42- U.S. and Japanese carriers meet in the Battle of the Eastern Solomons. Japanese defeat! (:

  9. January 1943 • 01.02.43-Allies take back Buna in New Guinea. • 01.22.43-Allies defeat Japan at Sanananda. Map of New Guinea. Located near Australia.

  10. April 1943 • 04.21.43-Roosevelt announces that Japan killed several airmen. • 04.22.43-Japan announces that captured Allied pilots will be given “one way tickets to hell”

  11. May 1943 • 05.10.43-The U.S. troops invaded Attu in the Aleutian Islands. The islands are located Southwest of Alaska. • 05.31.43-Japanese end their occupation of the Aleutian Islands as the U.S. Completed the capture of Attu. Aleutian Islands

  12. August 1943 • 08.06.43 to 08.07.43-Battle of Vella Gulf in the Soloman Islands. These Islands are located near Australia. • The Battle of Vella Gulf was a navel battle taken place in the Solomon Islands. This was the first U.S. navy victory in WWII.

  13. November 1943 • 11.02.43-Battle of Empress Augusta Bay. • This Battle was a Naval battle fought near the island Bougainville. When the Japanese thought they would lose, they returned to Turk for help. However, on 11.05.43 two U.S. aircrafts raided and destroyed four ships.

  14. January 1944 • 01.09.44-British and Indian troops recapture Maungdaw in Burma. • Maungdaw is in Burma. Burma is located between China and Indian. This gives Britain an advantage to protect China.

  15. March 1944 • 03.15.44-Japanese begin offensive toward Imphal and Kohima. • These two cities are located in Burma. • The map shows the Japanese attacks on Imphal and Kohima.
