  7. The Flight to China The 13 hour flight took us north over Canada, Greenland, about 140 miles from the North Pole (didn’t see Santa), then over Russia, and on to China.

  8. We had 138 people on Continental, and 53 people on the United flight, and both arrived in Beijing at about the same time.

  10. On the road to Chengde

  11. It started off foggy (and perhaps a bit smoggy)….then the rain storm began... …but most didn’t notice.

  12. An interesting omen was found in a pack of gum A pit stop (literally) at the halfway point to Chende

  13. Finally after a 4 hour drive, we arrived at our hotel in Chengde. We settled down for a late dinner and early bed time. After all, wake up calls were coming at 4:30 AM.
