Algebra with career applications

Algebra with career applications. 6 th hour Justin, Gavin, Alyse, & Mitch. Object 1: To solve multi steps equations. Sample problem: 3x-4=8-x First thing is to add 4 to both sides and you get 3x=12-x. Then add x to both sides which gives you 4x=12 then divide by 4 and x=4.

  1. Algebra with career applications 6th hour Justin, Gavin, Alyse, & Mitch

  2. Object 1:To solve multi steps equations • Sample problem: 3x-4=8-x First thing is to add 4 to both sides and you get 3x=12-x. Then add x to both sides which gives you 4x=12 then divide by 4 and x=4

  3. Object 1:Practice problems • 2x-3=12-x • 4x-1=14-x • X+2=x-2 • 2x+3=15-2x

  4. Object 1:Practice problem answers • x=5 • X=3 • No solution • X=3

  5. Objective 2: To solve equations containing fractions • Sample problem: First thing is to multiply by the LCD which is 12 in this problem this gives you 2x-8=6x. Next subtract 2x from both sides to get x by itself that gives you -8=4x. Then you divide by 4 and you get The answer x=-2

  6. Objective 2:Practice problems 1. 2. 3. 4.

  7. Object 2:practice problem answers 1. 2. 3. 4.

  8. Objective 3:To solve literal equations • Sample problem: ax=by=c First thing is to minus BY from both sides and you get ax=c-by. Then you divide a from both sides and that gives you the answer

  9. Object 3:practice problems • t=d+pm • xl+2w=p • a=lw • i=prt

  10. Object 3:practice problem answers • t-d/m=p • L=p-2w/2 • a/l=w • i/rt=prt/rt

  11. Object 4:To translate into mathematical equations and solve • Sample problem: A number is 5 less than another number. Their sum is 31. Find the numbers. X-5=31 add 5 to both sides which gives you the answer x=36 =)

  12. Objective 4:practice problems • A number minus 3 is 9 • A number times 3 is 12 • A number divided by 2 is 8 • A number plus 4 is 12

  13. Objective 4:practice problem answers • x=11 • X=4 • X=16 • X=8

  14. Object 5:Solve linear inequalities and graph the solution set • Sample problem: 3x+2<2x+5 First add 2 from both sides which gives you 3x<2x+7. then minus 2x from both sides that gives you the answer x<7

  15. Objective 5:practice problems • 10x+2<3x+9 • 27x+9>7x+49 • 7x+9>2x+39 • 19x+12<4x+42

  16. Objective 5:practice problem answers • x<1 • X> 2 • X>6 • X< 2
