Needleman BDS MSc PhD MRDRCSEng FDSRCSEng ILTM Ian is in specialist periodontal practice in the West End of London and is Senior Lecturer and Honorary Consultant in Periodontology at UCL Eastman Dental Institute. His interests are in improving the outcomes of treatment of patients and in getting clinical research into practice. He set up, and is Director of the International Centre for Evidence-Based Oral Health (ICEBOH), in the Unit of Periodontology. He is internationally recognised for his work in the UK, Europe and the USA and has provided training and consultancy for the European Federation of Periodontology, The American Academy of Periodontology and the Swiss Dental Association. Paul A. Baker BDS MSc MClinDent MRDRCS(Eng) FDSRCS(Eng) Paul is a specialist periodontist who spends most of the week in specialist practice in the West End of London. He completed his specialist training at Guy’s Hospital in 2000 and continued to teach in the Periodontology Department, part-time for five years. He is now involved in specialist training for the British Society of Periodontology and lectures in periodontics on the certificate course at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute, as well as tutoring and mentoring for Astra Dental Implants. Paul is an active member of the Council of the British Society of Periodontology and also sits on the SAC in Restorative Dentistry at the Royal College of Surgeons. Overview The day is focussed on helping general dental practitioners and their teams, to develop their success in managing patients with periodontal problems. The course will look at realistic situations and problems that arise in general practice and discuss their causes and management. Ian Needleman and Paul Baker have between them more than 25 years of experience in periodontal practice.
