  1. Pasta Horse Large Animal Skeletal Systems Lab + Objective: Understand the anatomical structure of production animals and how skeletal features correspond to movement & agility.

  2. Resource List • Pasta-various shapes/sizes • Glue-be careful, it’s hot and will burn • Pipecleaners, straws • “Googly” eyes • Plates • Adhesive labels • Other “creative resources” of your choice

  3. Task • Choose a production animal to create a 3D skeletal system of. • Examine skeletal drawings (textbook, copy from internet, etc.) looking at multiple views • Evaluate provided pasta shapes • Construct frame of the animal making it as lifelike and comprehensive as possible. • Label skeletal structure

  4. Basic Scoring Guide • Correctness of Form (does it resemble your animals skeletal system/shape?) • Keep in mind proportion and SCALE • Examine the flexibility of the species • Bone Mastery – label at least 20 different bones and the 6 regions of the skeleton • Show creativity and eye appeal • Show stability in your skeleton (it should support its self)
