  2. J. David Roper Rotary Club of Martinez-Evans The inaugural District 6910, Guardian of Ethics Awards was presented to David Roper, Rotary Club of Martinez-Evens. J. David Roper is a Superior Court Judge. He is a former senior partner in a law firm specializing in commercial and probate law. He received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Georgia. David's wife, Edna, is a registered nurse. They live in Martinez, Georgia. In his community, David has served as chairman of Community Leadership, vice chairman of the board of Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia, director of the Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Private Industry Council. He is a deacon of Warren Baptist Church, a member of the Georgia Master 4-H Club, and served in the United States Army. A graduate of professional baseball umpire's school, David has umpired college and high school baseball. Edna serves on her church's Mission Development Council, and is a frequent short-term medical missionary. David has been a member of the Rotary Club of Martinez-Evans since its charter in 1975. He has served as club president, district governor, and in 2002-2004 he served on the Rotary International Board of Directors. Through Rotary, David and Edna have participated in Polio immunization in Nigeria, Ghana and India. David is the recipient of The Rotary Foundation's Distinguished Service Award and its International Service Award for a Polio Free World. He is also the recipient of the United States President's Call to Service Award.
