  1. Protective and Pathogenic T Cell ResponsesMIC 740/CB 745 When is the class? Mondays 3-6pm No class on October 26th & November 30th The last class is on December 7th

  2. What will be covered in the class? • We will cover 10 separate topics related to T cell responses. • The material covered will be based on papers with some reviews for background information.

  3. How is the class formatted? • Each week one student will be assigned to introduce the topic and give a brief 10-20 minute presentation to outline the topic. The listed review articles may help and can be referred to. • Each paper will be introduced by an assigned student. The student should clearly outline the rationale for the study and basically overview why the work was initiated. • The assigned student will present the first figure of the paper and also be responsible for preparing powerpoint slides of ALL OF THE OTHER FIGURES from the paper. They need to work on a Mac with Powerpoint 2008.

  4. What happens after figure 1? • After the paper has been introduced we will randomly pick students to present the remaining figures and tables (typically one student for each display item). • You should emphasize why the experiment was performed, how it was done, how it fits in with the rest of the report and also give the authors’ as well as your own conclusions about the data shown.

  5. DISCUSSION!! • All students are expected to read all of the papers. • Students are expected to actively ask questions and participate in a lively discussion of the figures, papers and topic. • You will get out what you put in!
