Discussion of what the ‘balance’ should be • Prioritize your activities (advice fro Chair, be willing to say no, Avoid 2nd rate activities) • Engage children in family duties • Work smarter, not harder • Create block of time (no emails, phone etc.) • Creates effective use of time • Dedicated research time • Dedicated family time • Dedicated career development time

  5. Recommendation • Better Child-care (higher quality) • List of Nannies • Consult CDC and see what they do • Check on Penalization for modified duties • Reward faculty for quality of work not quantity and face time
