PradhanMantri Jan-DhanYojana • Pradhan Mantri Jan-DhanYojana (PMJDY) is National Mission for Financial Inclusion to ensure access to financial services, namely, Banking/ Savings & Deposit Accounts, Remittance, Credit, Insurance, Pension in an affordable manner. • Special Benefits under PMJDY Scheme • Accidental insurance cover of Rs.1.00 lakh • Life insurance cover of Rs.30,000/- • RuPay Debit Card • PMJDY accounts are being opened with Zero balance • Beneficiaries of Government Schemes will get Direct • Benefit Transfer in these accounts. • After satisfactory operation of the account for 6 months, • an overdraft facility upto Rs. 5000/-will be permitted

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan • Swachh Bharat Abhiyan campaign aims to accomplish the vision of a 'Clean India' by 2 October 2019, the 150th birthday of Mahatma Gandhi. • Specific objectives of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan are: • Elimination of open defecation • Eradication of manual scavenging • 100% collection & scientific processing/disposal/reuse/recycling of municipal solid waste • A behavioural change in people regarding healthy sanitation practices • Generation of awareness among citizens about sanitation and its linkages with public health

NITI Aayog • Modi Government has set up NITI Aayog (National Institution for Transforming India), in place of the erstwhile Planning Commission, as a means to better serve the needs and aspirations of the people of India. • The new institution will be a catalyst to the developmental process; nurturing an overall enabling environment, through a holistic approach to development going beyond the limited sphere of the Public Sector and Government of India. • Under NITI Aayog, an empowered role of States as equal partners in national development • Operationalising the principle of Cooperative Federalism. • New initiatives taken under NITI: • (i) Atal Innovation Mission • (ii)Self Employment & Talent Utilization Syama Prasad Mookerjee Research Foundation

Objective: To end discrimination against the girl child and to demonstrate a commitment to arrest and reverse a degenerative habit, Modi government launched the twin programmes of "Beti bachao, Beti padhao" and "Sukanya SamriddhiAccount" in a bid to encourage the birth and education of girls and tackle the abysmally low child sex ratio of 940 girls for 1000 boys. The scheme was initiated with an initial corpus of Rs 100 crore SPMRF

Make in India • Make In India is a new national program designed to transform India into a global manufacturing hub • The aim is to take the share of manufacturing in the country’s GDP from a stagnant 16% currently to 25% by 2022, as stated in the National Manufacturing Policy, and to create 100 million jobs by 2022. • Major objectives of the Make In India plans: • Tofacilitate: • Investment • Foster innovation • Enhance skills development • Protect intellectual property • To built best-in-class manufacturing infrastructure SPMRF

Digital India Programme • The Digital India Program is a cross ministry initiative of Modi government which aims to transform India into a digitally-enabled and empowered information society and knowledge economy. • The main goal of this colossal transformational initiative is to radically redesign and digitize government processes and make government services available and accessible electronically as well as to contribute towards new employment generation. • The vision of Digital India Program is centered around the following three key areas: • Infrastructure as a utility to every citizen • Governance and services on demand • Digital empowerment of citizens • Digital India Program can be viewed as a truly revolutionary initiative because by providing the opportunity to educate and enhance the digital skill set of potentially the whole population, the program has the potential to create an environment of not just digital but overall social-inclusion. MUDRA Bank (Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency) • Motto of the Bank: “Funding the Un-funded” • MudraBank is a public sector financial institution, responsible for regulating and refinancing all Micro-finance Institutions (MFI) which are in the business of lending to micro/small business entities engaged in manufacturing, trading and services activities. • MUDRA Bank, with a corpus of Rs. 20,000 crore, and credit guarantee corpus of 3,000 crore, will refinance Micro-Finance Institutions through a Pradhan Mantri MudraYojana. • While lending money, priority will be given to SC/ST enterprises. • The bank has classifies its clients into three categories and the maximum allowed loan sums will be based on the category • (i)Shishu: Allowed loans up to Rs 50,000. (ii)Kishore: Allowed loans up to Rs. 5,00,000 (iii)Tarun: Allowed loans up to Rs. 10,00,000 Syama Prasad Mookerjee Research Foundation

  13. Black Money • The Black Money (Undisclosed Foreign Income and Assets) and Imposition of Tax Bill, 2015 was recently passed in both houses of Parliament. The clear intention of the Modi Government behind this is to curb the menace of black money. • India moved a step closer to a harsher regime for those hiding wealth overseas with the passage of the bill in Parliament that makes such concealment a criminal offence, punishable by as much as 10 years of rigorous imprisonment. • Anyone found having undeclared overseas wealth would be required to pay 30 per cent tax and 90 percent penalty Syama Prasad Mookerjee Research Foundation

PM Modi’s France, Germany & Canada visit • France: • Prime Minister Modi, seriously concerned over critical shortages in defence sector, took a bold political decision to go for a Govt-to-Govt deal for procurement of Rafaleaircrafts. • MoU was signed between L&T of India and Areva of France during Prime Minister Modi’s visit to manufacture the vessels and large forgings in India which is a huge boost to the “Make in India” initiative. • Aircraft manufacturer Airbus announced its decision to enhance outsourcing in India from 400 million euros to 2 billion euros over the next five years • Germany: At Hannover Messe in Germany, it was all about ‘Make in India’. The ‘Make in India’ lions were shown as a symbol of a new India. They roared but with a message of friendship and promise of partnership, from 1.25 billion people of India. • Canada: Canada will supply 3000MT Uranium for India’s Nuclear reactors for next 5yrs at a cost of about $300 million. This will substantially ease the fuel supply problems that our nuclear reactors have faced from time to time. It will also help in resolving India’s Power problems.
