  2. Reading Do Now: • How did your Double-Entry Diary go last night? Was it harder or easier than you expected? Did you use any of the online resources?

  3. Reading Objectives: • C.O.: Students will be able to create a K-W-L chart based on their predictions on Esperanza Rising. • L.O.: Students will listen for information presented by teacher and peers.

  4. KWL Chart • Knowledge – things you all ready know • Want to learn – questions you have about the topic • Learned – things you’ve learned after finishing the reading • Helps you organize information!

  5. Writing Do Now: • Correct the following M.U.G. Shot. This should be done in the Writing Notes section of your L.A. binder; you can write this underneath yesterday’s M.U.G. Shot. I really want to go to Mcdonalds said June, but I still want to go to the stamford mall

  6. Writing Objectives: • C.O.: • Students will be able to identify and apply the two ways to use apostrophes. • Students will be able to identify and apply the rule for using quotation marks. • L.O.: Students will discuss rules of apostrophes and quotation marks with peers.

  7. Quotation Marks • Used to show when someone is speaking in a text. • “Just because you’ve got the emotional range of a teaspoon doesn’t mean we all have!” – Hermoine Granger • Used to show sarcasm • I really “love” One Direction. • Used to show that you are writing someone else’s words. • “Two roads diverged in wood, and I took the one less traveled.” This is one of my favorite quotes because it states that going a different way than the popular one is okay!
