Medicine Wheel Teachings • Medicine: traditions, ceremonies, beliefs, values, ideals, worldviews, language • Wheel: Circle of Life, cycles, recurring patterns, Sacred Circle • Ancient symbol that represents ideas that are important to Aboriginal people • Symbols represent meanings and provide a cultural lens to observe the world around us David and Imelda Perley

Medicine Wheel Teachings • Helps us to look inward and explore our inner selves • MWT as a mirror; can be used to see or understand things we cannot see or understand because they are ideas and not physical objects • Incorporates the beliefs, values, and worldviews of our Wabanaki ancestors David and Imelda Perley

Medicine Wheel Teachings • Sacred Circle symbolism is enacted in daily living and ceremonies such as Sun Dances, Sweatlodges, Sweetgrass Ceremony, Pipe Ceremony, Sunrise Ceremony, and Feasts • MWT are passed on from generation to generation through ceremonies, traditions, storytelling, and actual practice David and Imelda Perley

Medicine Wheel Teachings • Our Wolastoq Elders have confirmed that the MWT apply to Wolastoq culture • They have confirmed that the values of respect, sharing, balance, harmony, interdependence, honesty, trust, responsibility, and others have guided their actions • Our Wolastoq Elders referred to these values as “Woli Pomawsuwakonol” (Sacred Earth Walk) David and Imelda Perley
