  1. 8th GRADE SPIRIT DAY ACTIVITIES

  2. Kick Board Relay in the Pool • 12 students per team • 4 lanes for each team. 3 students in each lane • Students will use kickboard to kick across pool and back and pass off kickboard to next student • Teams will be assessed point value based upon how they finish (ex. 100 pts for 1st place, 90 for 2nd place, 80 for 3rd place, etc.)

  3. Swimming Medley • 24 students per team • 4 lanes for each team. 6 students in each lane split with 3 at one end and 3 at the other end. • Two people will swim freestyle, two will swim backstroke, two will swim breaststroke across the pool. The person on the opposite end of the lane will use the same stroke and swim back to where the 1st person started. • Teams will be assessed point value based upon how they finish (ex. 100 pts for 1st place, 90 2nd place, 80 3rd place, etc.)

  4. Underwater Scrabble • Timed event for 10 minutes • 10 students per team • Tiles will be dropped in bottom of shallow end in pool. Each team will have members on each side of the pool. One member will swim to the center, dive down, grab a tile and swim back to the side of the pool. The other members not getting a tile will try to make a word. Each member will have chance to grab a tile. They cannot have more then 7 letters at a time on the pool deck and can swim back to exchange letters.

  5. Biggest Splash Contest • 15 students per team • Students will jump from the 1 meter diving board into the pool where judges will rate the biggest splash. Points will be awarded for each jumper.

  6. Obstacle Course • 10 students per team • Students will race through obstacle course that is set up • Winning team gets points

  7. Indoor Track Relay • 10 students per team • Students will race 1 lap around gym around cones and pass off baton to next person • Winning team gets points

  8. Hula Hoop Chain • 20 students per team • Object is to pass the hula hoop over one another while linking arms. • First team to get hula hoop from one side to the other without breaking the link is the winner

  9. Pilo Polo • 12 students per team • In a timed event, students will try to hit a nerf ball using a nerf polo stick into a goal. • Team with most goals wins

  10. Football Through the Hoop • 10 students per team • 2 students going at same time per team • Students will have 3 attempts to throw a football from the 3 pt. line through the hoop that is hanging from the basket • Add up number made and total by team

  11. Foul Shooting • 10 students per team • 2 students going at time per team • Students will get 2 shots each • Add up total number of shots made and add up team totals

  12. 3 Point Shot Contest for 1 ½ Minutes • 20 students per team • 4 different rounds of 5 students going at 1 time (with 1 rebounder for each of them) • Count how many 3 point shots a person can make in 1 minute and add up the team totals

  13. Original Dodgeball • 25 students per team • Students will face off against each other trying to eliminate other members by hitting them with a dodgeball or by catching a throw from the other team. If student gets hit or ball that is thrown gets caught, they sit in the bleachers in order of how they got out. Allowed to come back into play if team catches a ball

  14. Tug of War • Students will face off against each other. 20 students per team ( 10 boys and 10 girls) and a total of 2 tugs • Boys vs boys, girls vs girls
