Construction process • Once the contractor was appointed ,they ware allowed a specific period to prepare the design.This design was then submitted to the clients rep. for consideration and approval. (CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENT REVIEW) • Drawings were made available for part 8 planning to co. co. • Once the process of design was agreed ,drawings were issued to the project engineer for recording and comment as work progressed.

Design demand • Design year = 2005. • Design period = 20years. • Per Capita Consumption (PCC) = 180 litres per person per day consistent with the • Department of Environment and Local Government guideline figures for GWSs • Agricultural Demand = 814 litres per connection, based upon W.S Atkins National • Water Study Report, 2000. • Other connections = 1000 litres per connection assumed.

  25. Projects construction management Water Services,Sligo co.co. Personnel: 1no.Project Engineer, 2no. SRE, 2no.RE, 2no. A/RE, 1no G1 technician Working closely with the employers representative and main line staff to help deliver projects.

  26. Employers requirements • To Provide for the Construction of a new Water Treatment Works in Accordance with the EU (Drinking Water) Regulations, 2000 S.I. No439 • To ensure compliance with the maximum admissible concentrations (MAC) for colour, manganese and iron and to eliminate the threat from concentrations of trihalomethanes (THMs)

SUMMARY OF DUTIES circularlL7/04 • 1.1 To supervise the construction, completion and maintenance of the contract works on the scheme to ensure that they are executed fully in accordance with the Contract Documents. • 1.2 To ensure that all materials used in the works are in accordance with the Specification. • 1.3 To execute or supervise tests carried out on site and to inspect materials and manufacture at source other than that which may be carried out by the Consulting Engineer's Head Office Staff.

  28. Duties continued. • To record and check the progress of the work against the programme including regular monthly updating of the programme and of the cash flow statements . • To keep a comprehensive diary constituting a detailed history of the work of construction and of significant happenings at the site and submit regular progress reports to the Consulting Engineer. • To record with particular detail information relating to delays, adverse physical conditions, disputes with landowners, and all Contractor's plant and labour and all Sub-Contractors' plant and labour .

To measure in agreement with the Contractor's staff on a monthly basis. • To check all interim valuations and submit report to employers representative with recommendation. • attend regular measurement meetings with Consulting Engineer where any difficulties with interim measurement are to be discussed. • examine in detail any claims submitted by the Contractor and to make written reports on same. • Ensure compliance with Safety , Health and Welfare at Work . • for regular photographic records of the progress of the works

  30. To carry out inspections at regular intervals to ensure that the Contractors are meeting their obligations with regard to the payment of P .A. Y .E., P .R.S.I., and Pension Fund/Sick Pay Contributions on behalf of their employees. • Surveillance of testing and commissioning during process proving period. • To assist in the preparation of all Final Accounts • Assist with reporting on the PMS
