  6. Epicurus • Epicurus recommends for us to pursue our own pleasure, but he never suggests we should live a selfish life which impedes others from achieving that same objective.

  7. Lord Henry and Dorian "The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it.” –Lord Henry • Lord Henry takes on the Mephistopheles-like role in luring Dorian Gray to live for what most pleasures him. • This has harsh consequences on Dorian’s soul.

  8. Hedonism in The Picture of Dorian Gray • As you read chapters 3-5, pay particular attention to Lord Henry Wotton’s influence on Dorian Gray. • Using a dialectical journal, find 4-5 quotations that demonstrate Lord Henry’s hedonistic influence over Dorian and write a reaction to each one.
