  44. Region D Senator Candidate: Christine Cathcart • Charlotte-Metrolina Section Positions Held: • Section: President, VP, Treasurer, Section Rep  • Region: Deputy Director, Treasurer, Student Region Coordinator, Leadership Coach, various chairs • National: Career Guidance Chair, SAC Counselor and Faculty Advisor Liaison, Finance Committee member, COR Mega Issues FIG Chair, Student Transition Team member Statement of Interest: • I would like to serve in this position to help establish the new role and provide a resource to the Region for future Senators.  The representation of the Region is critical for continued alignment with National goals and direction.

  45. Region D Senator Candidate: Tracey Whaley, P.E. • Central Florida Section Positions Held: • FY 01-FY04 Rocky Mountain Section Membership Chair • FY 05 Rocky Mountain Section President • FY 06 Rocky Mountain Section Representative • FY 07 – Present Central Florida Section Discover! Chair (Outreach) • FY 08 Central Florida Section Treasurer • FY 09 Central Florida Section Representative Statement of Interest: • I believe that SWE has the ability to be ‘The Organization’ representing women in engineering. However, we haven’t developed the consensus needed to issue policy statements regarding the issues of the women in engineering and bring them to the forefront. I believe the new structure will allow the Society to develop policies that are desired by the majority of the members as well as make the Society more attractive to our corporate partners. • In addition, the new structure will allow Regions to develop their leadership and allow medium and small size companies to more effectively participate in SWE. I believe that medium and small companies are reluctant to sponsor SWE because they feel it must be at a National level. There is tremendous opportunity for Regional and Section officers to promote SWE in their areas which will give the medium to small companies a sense that their sponsorship is used effectively. • I hope to help Region D reach out to medium and small companies in our area to more effectively leverage their support for SWE and to help establish policies at the national level that will advance the Society to be known as ‘The Organization” for women in engineering.

  46. Region Alternate Senator Candidate: Pamela Androff • SWE Experience • FY09: RCMC, Region Webmaster, Region Conference Task Force, Region Conference Planning Committee, Membership Committee, GRPP Committee • FY08: RCR (Member of COR- helped develop COR bylaws amendment that was passed), Region Webmaster, Region Conference Planning Committee • FY05-FY07: Region Webmaster, 2006 Region D Conference Co-Chair • Why Region Senator Alternate? • I really enjoyed being on COR, but want to let more experienced SWE members take a stab at the Senate thing first  • I am a new employee at a small (160 person) firm; support is currently scaled-back due to economy • I’m trying to “feel out” different areas of SWE so I can determine where I’m best suited before fully committing

  47. Region D Secretary Candidate:Michele O’Shaughnessy Offices Held: 2008-2009 Region D Secretary 2008-2009 Region D Conference Planning Committee Participant 2008-2009 Central Savannah River Area Section Vice-President 2007-2009 Women in Government Committee Participant 2007-2009 Central Savannah River Area Section Membership Chair 2006-2009 Conference Program Board, Government Representative 2006-2007 Region E Membership Chair 2006-2007 Baltimore Washington Section Professional Development Vice President 2006-2007 Baltimore Washington Section Networking Lunch Chair 2003-2007 Baltimore Washington Section Membership Chair 2003-2007 Baltimore Washington Section Mailing Coordinator 2005-2006 COR Meeting Focus Interest Group 2003-2006 Baltimore Washington Section Representative to COR 2002-2003 Baltimore Washington Section Internal Communications Secretary 2001-2003 Baltimore Washington Section Member Involvement Chair 1993-1994 Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) SWE Student Section Treasurer Statement of Interest: Since becoming a SWE member in 1993 as a student, I have participated in National and Regional Conferences, assisted in organizing a Girl Scout Badge Day at WPI, and held Region and Section officer, and Regional and National Committee positions. I have served in fulfilling roles on both the local and society levels of SWE and in some committee roles for the Region, but have been interested for some time in serving as an officer for the region.
